Migratory brown trout, Queenston, ON.

Posted on April 11th, 2016

Lake Ontario has a good brown trout fishery and many people catch them randomly fishing the smaller tributaries from Oakville to Port Hope, ON.Anglers fishing the south-side off the lake around St. Catharine’s to the Niagara River can catch them quite regularly.

Here is a nice shot of a brown trout caught by a shore angler bottom-bouncing right at the Queenston, ON boat launch access. Many anglers take advantage of fishing from this easy to get to stretch of river that consistently produces trout in the cold-water months and smallmouth & walleye during the warm-water months! Three-way bottom bouncing rigs with a 24-36″ leader and either using a roe bag, single imitation egg, streamer or 2-4″ long plastic grub can produce nice trout!
