May 12th, 2012 I had the great pleasure of hosting a very good friend and business associate of ours Sanjay Verman for a day fishing on Lake Dalrymple. We spent the majority of the day fishing the north end of the lake ( targeting Northern Pike ) we managed to boat a few fish and unfortunately lost more than we ending up landing due primarily to a painful shoulder injury this writer is currently having to deal with. The weather was a mixed bag sun and cloud for most of the day. We used the following methods to target the fish on this outing: 1) Live Bait fishing with Slip floats 2) trolling with Perch coloured tail dancers 3) casting perch coloured Husky Jerks. The fish seemed to be a bit on the lethargic side for the most part, with several follows to the boat without a strike.
We did see one boat land a large Crappie nearby ( they said the fish hit a Husky Jerk ). Sanjay my guest for the day was very impressed with the natural beauty of the lake and he thoroughly enjoyed fishing. He at one point in the day let me know that he “now knows why fishing is addictive”. Sanjay while in Canada for the past while has caught Channel Catfish up to 16 pounds as well as Northern Pike. We will miss Sanjay very much when he returns to India later this month on business. However we expect to stay in touch while he is away and will begin counting the days when he will be returning to Canada to be with his immediate family and to again join his new found fishing buddy for another Ontario fishing adventure!
Safe travels Sanjay……….and keep these fishing memories close to your heart!
