I had the pleasure of fishing with a couple of well-known American Outdoor Writers at a recent conference I attended in Lewiston, NY. As part of the conference many guides, well-known TV personalities, and fishing equipment company representatives where taken fishing on the Niagara River daily.
Conditions were cool both in air and water temperatures. We targeted a variety of fish including walleye in deep water. The most effective presentation that consistently produced big walleye was a 3/8 oz. jighead rigged with a 4″ Lunker City Fin-S-Fish.
Mike Pehanich (above), holds up his “personal-best” walleye he fooled with a Fin-S-Fish. We fished Rapala R-type spinning outfits with the Sufix832 braided line to have maximum feel and the best hook-sets into walleye that averaged 27-30″. I you have not fished the Fin-S-Fish, give it a try. When you move it near the bottom it looks more life-like than a real minnow and works on all gamefish that eat smaller fish!
