I had a chance to fish the Lower Niagara River just before the Toronto Sportsmen Show and can confirm that water clarity was good, winds were blowing from the south, and the fishing was tough. Anglers were taking advantage of the rainy weather and several were fishing at the Queenston, ON boat launch from shore. We saw one steelhead landed and heard that there were already a few suckers caught.
Winds made it difficult to fish any of the drifts north of Queenston and we ended up only fishing a couple of ours and did not get a hit. Aldo Nava of www.niagarafishingadventures.com was guiding, fished hard most of the day and only had 2-fish on and landed one.
Seems like everyone was struggling to catch fish.
