Lovesick Lake, ON – “Muskie Memory!”
Posted on August 1st, 2009This past week my family and I were vacationing on Lovesick Lake, located near the Peterborough, ON area. My son hooked into his 1st Musky, while using his ultralight rod and reel. The fish hit a small red, black and yellow panfish tube jig while we were fishing near one of the lock’s located on the lake. The fish provided us several memorable moments, two jumps, a long “line screaming run” before the fish came to the boat. Regretfully at the boat the fish darted around the back of the boat and cut the line on the back corner of the boat! I estimated the fish to be 15-20 lbs. My son had a second thrill later in the week when he landed & released unharmed a healthy looking Muskie, that was caught on a black and silver floating Rapala in the same area where he had lost his 1st Musky. My son was the first youth at the lodge in the last several years to have his photo posted in the Resort office holding a Muskie. This was a thrill for both he and I and will be a memory we can share for years to come!
