Late winter for chunky panfish!

Posted on February 29th, 2016

Late winter is an excellent time to target chunky panfish as they move into shallower water anticipating the spring thaw.

We are getting reports of anglers continuing to catch jumbo perch throughout the Kawartha’s and also in Lake Simcoe. While some perch are being caught in water more than 20′ deep, many are also being caught in water from 7-15′ depths. Anglers are doing well fishing small live minnows as well as small 1/8 oz. Flash spoons and the Jigging  Rapalas in the smaller sizes.
