As temperatures are starting so drop slowly warm water fish are remaining active and will probably become more active with the cooler weather moving in.
Matt Cory of TopSet Sportfishing sent us these images of the nice-size fish they have been catching fly fishing a small river.
While some anglers are focusing on tributary Chinook salmon that are already up along Lake Ontario’s north-shore, many others are still targetting smallies before they make their way back to the Great Lakes.
The ideal fly outfit to use for these tributary smallies is a 7/8 wt. rod matched with a medium-size fly reel and a Weighted Forward floating fly line. Best flies, streamers in assorted sizes.
