Simeon Kubassek has been taking advantage of very thick ice up on the north-shore of Lake Superior and has gotten out for some amazing whitefish catches.
He has been fishing in 20-60’ of water using Rapala Slab Raps and ¼ oz wobbling spoons in blue/silver and green/silver. Makes sense since there are smelt and herring color imitations.
right near the bottom. Lake Superior whitefish get little pressure and if they move near you under the ice they usually smash the lure.
