Lake Simcoe – Perch Fishing!

Posted on January 3rd, 2011

Dec. 31st, 2010 I had the pleasure of fishing with my son Jeremy and friend Ryan Edenborough. Ryan over a period of time has  located a specific area and depth on Cook’s Bay that has consistently been producing perch in good numbers. The day we arrived the conditions were extremely wet due to the recent mild tempatures and walking out onto the lake was a bit of challenge as a result. However once we arrived at our spot Ryan quickly punched three holes for us and had set us up with drop shot rig’s – using 6 lb test and ultralight rods & reels. We used small minnows primarily for bait and on the very first drop of the day my son landed a perch. This was a sign of good things to come. In approximately three hours of fishing we landed well over 80 fish, with my son taking frequent breaks to slide around in the water against the advice of his father to limit this activity…..needless to say this contributed to the length of time we were able to stay out fishing! However a good time was had by all.IMG00108

If you are looking to cash in on some fine winter fishing this season I would suggest you consider contacting Ryan about his guiding services troutski79@yahoo.ca
