Lake Simcoe, ON prime for Panfish.

Posted on July 20th, 2009

I had a chance to fish Lake Simcoe, ON yesterday for jumbo perch, sunfish and rock bass with Gerald Fisher and Ellen & Syd Kessler.  The weather was excellent and we fished small 1-2″ plastic grubs on 1/8 & 1/16 oz. jigheads with 6 lb. test www.rapala.ca , Titanium Braid Line and 6 lb. test fluorocarbon leaders with ultralight outfits in 4-8′ of water and caught plenty of perch averaging 7-9″, “hand-size” sunfish, and some rock bass up to 1 lb. in size.  We even had a couple of surprises catching both largemouth and smallmouth bass on the ultralight gear.  We had an excellent afternoon on the water and finished it off with a fish fry!
