Anglers are reporting good perch catches on Lake Simcoe both from fishing the shallow flats and also fishing water as deep as 30-40′. The shallow-water perch are scattered and varying in size from 6-9″, while the deep-water perch are in larger schools and ranging from 8-11″ in size. Best way to locate the deep-water perch is to troll slowly either using a weighed spinner/worm, or jig/worm or minnow close to the bottom. Most anglers are using jigs/live minnows in the deeper water while shoreline anglers are using mostly 1/8 oz. jigs/1-3″ plastic grubs in water ranging in depth from 5-10′.
