Our feature images shows nine year old David smiles as he holds up one of the steelhead he caught at Eighteenmile Creek, NY on a black jig with a pink head.

Eighteenmile Creek, NY anglers reported catches of fresh steelhead earlier in the week. Currently, Eighteenmile has moderate and stained flow. Fresh steelhead have also been showing at Oak Orchard Creek, which is currently running slightly high and stained with about a foot of visibility. Smaller tributaries like Johnson and Sandy Creeks have dropped to moderate flows, but are still a bit muddy. Most of the ice has been flushed out of smaller tributaries. Egg sacs, egg flies, trout beads and grub-tipped marabou jigs are good trout offerings. Use bright colors when fishing turbid conditions.

Yellow perch are showing in Olcott Harbor and anglers are catching some on small minnows. Pier sites are now free of ice. Casting spoons and spinners is a good tactic for trout. For more info. make sure to check out, http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/39271.html .
