Lake Ontario Salmon update.
Posted on July 30th, 2018Great Lakes anglers targeting Chinook salmon especially on Lake Ontario are having a banner year. This spring started off with phenomenal salmon fishing in the west-end of the lake out from the Niagara River, ON and now the salmon are bigger and feeding throughout the lake from St. Catharines, ON all they way east to Bowmanville, ON.
Michael Kumar fishes out of Oakville, ON and confirms the fishing has been great. Anglers are catching salmon both trolling with downriggers, Dipsey Divers and sinking long-lines. Flashers and flies are catching some fish but spoons seem to be the top producers. Dipsey anglers are running about 150′ of line out and using #1 size Dipsey to get down to the 50′ mark.
Great time to take advantage of hot weather an hot fishing!!
