Lake Herring TV shoot, Gull Lake, Minden, ON.
Posted on February 19th, 2011[nggallery id=419]When we got up yesterday morning it was 10C and raining. Not exactly what you expect for Feb. Well, the crew and I were up early and set-up for our Lake Herring TV shoot, before it was light enough to fish. We knew from my pre-fishing on Thurs., that the bite would be fast and short. We just got set up, I turned on my Humminbird Ice 55 and sure enough I had herring feeding below me and suspended about 20′ under the ice in 60′ of water. I dropped my 1/16 oz. jig tipped with a minnow down to the fish and immediately had my first fish on-camera. The action was non-stop for the next hour, but the wind picked-up and surface water on the ice made it difficult to move around. The wind was gusting so strong at one point that our camera man had a hard time keeping his balance as he tried to keep from sliding on the water-covered ice! If you like to ice fish, make sure to watch this show when it airs in the new TV season. You will see let’s of tips on new Rapala ice fishing products, and tactics to catch lake herring. See you a the Spring Fishing & Boat show!
