Lake Erie walleye & bass fishing update.

Lake Erie walleye & bass fishing update. I had the pleasure of fishing with Larry & Kevin Landon out on Lake Erie the other day. We headed out at 8am, and seeing the winds were low we decided to head out about 5 miles to 55′-60′ of water off of Krystal Beach, ON and go after walleye using in-line planer-boards, bottom-walking sinkers and Luhr Jensen Jewel Spinners with nightcrawlers.  It took us a few minutes to locate walleye on our Humminbird 800 series sonar and in no-time we had our first walleye on.  It turned out to be a chunky 8 lb fish.  The walleye were all near the bottom in 50′ of water which told me they were probably not that active, possibly due to the cold -front that had moved in a few days before.  Once we located them, and the trolled at the right depth, we caught quite a few fish and kept some for eating.  We also caught a nice sheepshead.

At about noon, we decided to fish some of the open-water reefs for smallmouth and Kevin ended up getting a really nice fish, his biggest yet!!  The Rapala RS Shad Rap worked great!

We all fished Rapala Shift & Concept Ti rods equipped with Rapala reels and loaded with Sufix 832, 10 lb. test braid.
