Lake Erie Walleye and Steelhead.

Posted on August 22nd, 2018

The Lake Erie walleye fishing this summer has been amazing. Anglers fishing the west end are also reporting good catches of Steelhead mixed in with their Walleye catches. This is one of the most reliable summers to consistently catch Walleye & Steelhead trolling in 40-80′ water using worm harnesses, fluttering spoons and long-body crankbaits. There are fished off Luhr Jensen Jet Divers & Dipsey Divers with or without planer boards, with downriggers and leadcore lines.

Joe Kubassek reports the fishing has been excellent for both off Port Burwell, ON.  They caught all their fish on various colored fluttering spoons running leadcore lines and downriggers over 50′ water with their lines down between 25-30′ and trolling at 2.7 mph. They landed a total of 20 walleye in just a few hrs.
