Lake Erie Perch Action.
Posted on June 27th, 2009Jason & Tyler Howick report: The perch fishing on Lake Erie this past month has been absolutely unbelievable for numbers and size of fish. Many anglers are limiting out on jumbo perch each day fishing 1-2 miles off of Lake Erie’s north shore. We have had success catching many jumbo perch averaging in size from 10-14 inches with most catches coming out of 28-40 ft of water. We use electronics to mark fish and schools of baitfish first before anchoring and fishing vertically. Using “pickeral” or “panfish” rigs, which consist of two wire arms to attach a hook and leader, enabling an angler to fish two baits at once. Definitely the most productive way to put fish in the cooler is to fish with live emerald shiners on or near bottom.
