Strong winds and cool air temperatures didn’t stop us from fishing the NY side of Lake Erie. Winds were so strong that we had to find very protective areas to be able to make the best “twitching” Rapala Husky Jerk and “tubing” TriggerX presentation for cold-water smallies.
Our good friend David Evans, Mulligan and I fished structure breaks from 5-20′ of water to intercept smallies crusing in-shore from the main-lake.
We had many follows that would just not hit, but we also caught about a dozen nice smallmouth bass and one chunky largmouth.
We kept switching presentation from sub-surface “twitching” in the shallower breaks to “dragging” our tube in deeper water.
Both presentations paid off and we landed lot’s of fish!
