My wife Barbara and I and our pup Mulligan had a chance to fish for a couple of hours in the afternoon for some Lake Erie, NY smallmouth bass. Water temperatures were a little warmer around 57F, and the smallies where still lathargic, but many did strike our twitch-baits.
The lure of choice was the Rapala Husky Jerk #14 twitched about 2-5′ below the surface. We saw dozen of big smallies follow, but only a few committed!
As water temperatures start to rise, the fishing will only get better!
