Lake Erie, NY fishing outing.

[nggallery id=862]I had a chance to fish Lake Erie, NY today with our good frined Gerald Fisher.  We started around 10am, the weather was beautiful, but the fish sparse.  Even though we caught some trophy size bass, we did not see any pike.

We did however see lot’s of shad that were either dead on the surface, or dying.  I even hooked one fishing for pike.

My outfits of choice today were the Rapala Concept Ti spinning outfit rigged with a Rapala Shift reel.  I also used a Rapala Shift baitcasting outfit and both reels were loaded with Sufix 832, 10 lb. braid.

My real treat today was using the new Rapala Scatter Raps.  I caught fish on both the Scatter Rap Minnow and the Scatter Rap Crank.  The lures cast well and have an amazing action of side to side as well as “scattering” unpredictably imitating a wounded baitfish.  If you are looking for one of the hottest lures Rapala has to offer this year, check out the Scatter Raps!
