[nggallery id=519]Warm weather and high water conditions on Lake Erie are producing excellent catches of bass and pike. I took the morning to fish with our good friend Gerald Fisher in Lake Erie, Buffalo, NY and the action was steady from Gerald’s first cast. We fished Rapala Husky Jerk with Sufix 832 braid and Rapala R-Type & Shift rods with matching reels in 7-10′ of water twitching our Rapalas 4-5′ below the surface. We caught both large and smallmouth bass casting to rocky shorlines and open-water weedbeds. We also fished some open-water weeds and caught quite a few smaller pike in the 2-5 lb. range. Later in the morning as it got hotter and the sun got brighter we also fished 4″tubes off the drop-offs. The fishing definitely slowed down with the rising heat.
