Lake Erie ice Walleye, Rainbows and Perch.
Posted on February 21st, 2018The open Great Lakes are big and in recent years with our changing winters, seldom freeze-up safe enough for anglers to venture out.
Our good friend Aldo Nava who operates www.niagarafishingadventures.com, took advantage weekend mild temperatures while the ice was still safe and ventured out onto Lake Erie.
He was targeting Erie jumbo perch and got a real surprise when he ended up hooking a nice-size walleye.
In addition to the walleye, surprise #2 was a beautiful rainbow. Aldo was fishing small live minnows near the bottom in about 50′ water when he caught his fish.
