On Monday this week I was joined by Ryan who works for Red Pine Wilderness Lodge. Ryan is a guide at Red Pine Wilderness Lodge and this guy loves to fish! Now that Ryan has finished his season at the lodge he has ample time to go fishing for fun as well as fishing competitively on the tournament scene. We were also joined on this trip by Eddie Eisele who operates the Log Inn Bed & Breakfast in Mount Hope, ON with  his wife Margret.

Ryan and I headed for Port Colborne, ON and with some knowledge of the area Ryan very quickly put us in an area where we started to catch fish. Ryan’s choice of bait was a 3/8th oz. green coloured tube jig, that he was running with a long fluorocarbon leader tied directly to the jig. We had realtively light winds enabling us to drift with the wind. Ryan put on a clinic in terms of the number of fish he caught ( I think in the area we were fishing he easily had the most fish from the boats that we were able to see in the area ) The wind died down at times and we then used our Minn Kota electric to slowly drag our tubes on bottom. We fished in depths of between 28 to 40 feet of water.

Upon our return to the dock in late afternoon we saw a fellow angler who showed us a 22″ smallmouth he caught also dragging a tube!
