Kitimat Lodge, BC and area fishing report.
[nggallery id=916]The Skeena river is in perfect condition, Steelhead are moving through the system and into their home rivers.
Finding the elusive Steelhead with the Spey fishing technique is a challenge and requires patience.
And that patience payed off as the last week many good catches of Salmon and large Steelhead.
Attached is first time client as well first time fishing for Steelhead, Momma as we call her nailed this 20 pounder behind her husband who had been pulling coho out almost each cast. I can tell you this is the biggest fish I can remember, with a thick tail, making it merely impossible to handle.
Of course with Momma catching a big one, Papa was no slouch as he fooled a 40 inch steelhead to chase his black intruder.
That same day, Ito and Youzo, repeat clients, landed each a 40 inch fish. I guess this fall has big fish.
And to top it off, Thurman from Texas today landed a 41 inch buck in the first pool. Winter is for sure close by as frost covered the boats this morning.
To end this report I included another picture of saltwater fishing for Halibut and Crab that is quite productive, and the start of winter spring fishing for smaller Chinook. I did however catch a 30 pounder some years ago with my neighbour Ferd Weunche.
With the guiding season here in Skeena and Kitimat coastal turning into a trickle, like the rivers, we are booking for 2014 and look forward to a bit of rest, Steelhead fishing! on our own and spending quality time with the family.
