Kawartha Lakes Smallmouth.

Posted on September 20th, 2016

Our good friend Ed Dolstra is taking advantage of cooling air temperatures and catching chunky smallmouth bass from Lake Scugog, ON.

While most anglers target largemouth bass, panfish and musky in Lake Scugog, Ed like to change it up and go for smallmouth. Lake Scugog is fairly shallow with a muddy bottom but there are several areas that have rocks going into the lake at points and steeper shorelines, especially at the northern end of the lake. Good lures to use now are jigs/plastic grubs and shallow-running Rapala crankbaits.
