If you love Musky fishing you know that one of the best times to target them is right now! Cold fall weather, dropping water temperatures, winds, waves, all add up to perfect musky feeding conditions.
Josh Westerink is taking advantage of musky fishing the Kawartha Lakes, ON. Josh has a cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake, ON, where he catches bass, walleye, big crappie and musky, but he also loves to fish Rice Lake, ON.
Musky feed heavily in the fall before ice-up and you can either troll for them or cast lures. Top producing casting lures are musky bucktails and large body-baits. If you get a follow, switching to a big soft-plastic action-tail grub and get them to strike. Key areas to fish are off large weedbeds and especially around rocky points and “saddles” that come off islands and shorelines.
