Our good friend Ed Dolstra sent us these images of the jumbo perch and crappie he has been catching on Lake Scugog, ON. As most of the southern Ontario ice-anglers should know, this year the season is closed for walleye on Lake Scugog until further notice from the OMNR & Forestry.
Many anglers are still taking advantage of the ice that has built up and are targeting panfish, not just on Lake Scugog but also on the other Kawartha Lakes. We can’t stress enough to be extremely cautions when getting onto the ice anywhere in southern Ontario due to the mild days we are having. Take special caution especially around pressure cracks and stay away from any narrows or moving water areas!
