Anglers that are targeting both Smallmouth & Largemouth Bass in the Kawartha Chain of Lakes, ON are confirming the fishing is excellent. We are hearing reports from Lake Scugog, Rice Lake, Stoney Lake and Buckhorn Lake that both species are in shallow water and feeding steadily.
This is probably due to the stable, warm weather we have been having which has allowed water temperatures to rise and aquatic vegetation to flourish. Anglers are mostly catching both species in open-water where there is a mix of rocks and weeds in depths as shallow as 2-6′. Weedlines are also producing their share of fish.
Most have been caught on an assortment of soft–plastics and one of my favorite is the Fishing Compete Zipper Worm line!
