Kawartha Ice-Crappie.

Posted on January 15th, 2020

Ice conditions have really varied in southern Ontario but Josh Westerink has been able to get out in the Kawartha’s when the weather has been colder to target one of his favorite fish through the ice, Crappie.

He has been catching his fish in 20’ depths fishing the Rapala Slab Raps and some very small soft plastics on jigheads. The fish have been cooperating all day but the peak times have been early and late. Lots of sunfish mixed in with the crappies.

Crappie are delicious eating and when you get slabs like the one above, just a few fish make for a great meal.

There’s nothing like fresh, deep-fried Crappie!
