Just shot a Crappie TV show in Kawartha’s with G2 Angling, Grant McAllister.

[nggallery id=204]It was cold, windy and snowing, but the fishing was hot up on Lake Scugog this morning.  We arrived on the lake around 8:30 and met up with our good friend Grant McAllister of G2 Angling.  Gary Hodge, Grant’s partner could not join us on this TV shoot so Grant ended up doing the scouting a few days before to find out where the best filming location would be given the weather forecast was calling for nasty conditions.  We ended up fishig a canal that averaged 2-3′ in depth where for the last 2-days, Grant was landing hundreds of crappie of which some measured up to a whopping 16 1/2″ in length!   We probably landed between 50-100 crappie and a handful of bluegill, sunfish and perch.  We used ultralight outfits with 1/32 oz. jigheads/1″ tubes and Finesse Minnows grubs.  If you love to fish for panfish, make sure to take advantage of the “all-year” open season for panfish in the Kawartha Lakes, ON (Zone 17).  Before heading out, make sure to check the regulations for any fish-sanctuary closures in the area you are planning to fish.

If you would like to book a guided fishing trip with Grant McAllister & Gary Hodge, you can contact them at G2 Angling.
