Jumbo Perch action getting hot again in Lower Niagara River.

[nggallery id=647]Following the heavy rains we had in southern Ontario a couple of days ago the Niagara River water clarity shrank to less than 12″.  I went out on the water with my friend Cliff and Stan yesterday and had a hard time finding baitfish along the boat launch, and had to purchase some at Pete’s Bait & Tackle in St. Catharines, ON.  We ended up getting to our perch spot just north of the Queenston, ON Boat Launch at about noon, fished for a couple of hours and again caught about 3-dozen jumbo perch.  I only kept 6-jumbos, but to my surprise they were plenty for my wife and I to enjoy yesterday evening.

I went out again today with my good friend Aldo Nava who operates www.niagarafishingadventures.com , and the water was quite a bit clearer, about 20″ visibility.  The baitfish were still scarce around the boat launch, but we managed to catch enough for our perch outing.  We started fishing again around noon and again caught about 3-dozen jumbo perch and Also also landed the largest white perch I have ever seen.  My guess is that it would have tipped the scales at 2lb!  Our largest perch were in the 12″ range.  Fish were scattered and Aldo used his electric to move us around to locate feeding fish.
