I love to fish vertical jigging lures both in fresh and saltwater. In freshwater I usually fish a 1/4 or 3/8 oz vertical jigging spoon for walleye and smallmouth bass. But, in saltwater, when I’m fishing over 50′ in depth I use a minimum of a 1 oz. vertical jig.
Tides always make jigging a challenge and using the right weigh jigging lure is a must that enables you to jig within 3′ of the bottom even in 80′ water. While many saltwater anglers prefer to use frozen or live bait for both Grouper and Snapper, I have a lot of confidence just using a jigging lure because it produces consistently!
