It’s Trophy Steelhead time…take advantage of it!
Posted on March 14th, 2016March is definitely trophy steelhead time for anglers targeting Lake Ontario tributaries. Many tributaries have open-water stretches and others that are still “locked-up” will be opening shortly.

If you are fishing the lower, “all-year”, slow-water stretches use a light leader with either fresh roe bags or single imitation eggs like the Creek Candy Glass Beads or even acrylic beads. Remember to use a sensitive float and the least amount of weight you can. These big bruisers can be picky when it comes to the presentation, especially if the drift is slow and shallow with clear water!
