[singlepic id=2075 w=320 h=240 float=]Pong Lake created by the Pong Dam is one of the largest freshwater commercial fishing areas in northern India. Two thousand and five hundred commercial fishermen are licences to use nets in this large reservoir. Here their catch includes Rohu (Eurasian Carp), Singhara (catfish), Catla (grass carp & common carp), & Mahseer.
We fished the main lake and caught some freshwater needle fish and ended up fishing a small lake and shot a common carp TV show using Rapala ultralight spinning outfits loaded with 4 lb. test Sufix 100% Castable Fluorocarbon line, a float-rig and cooked corn and “atta” (dough made of flour & water used for making nan bread), for bait.
For our last dinner we were also treated to two fresh carp recepies; fried carp strips and currie carp.
