Igloo Lake Lodge, Labrador Pike on flies.

Posted on August 19th, 2020

We had a blast mixing it up between catching big Brook Trout and Pike at Igloo Lake Lodge, Labrador. The Pike there hold in 2-5′ of water wherever there is some aquatic weed growth. Labrador waters are rocky with few weeds, but when you find weeds you find pike.

Dwight Ball – Premier Newfoundland/Labrador shows-off a healthy Pike that hit his mouse fly pattern on the surface.

I was blessed to do an entire show using fly-mice on the surface to catch Pike that averaged 7-10 lb. Very exciting to see the wake a Pike throws before “smashing” a surface mouse.

A deer-hair mice pattern was the trick to catching pike after pike on the surface. It’s catch & release fishing at Igloo Lake Lodge, Labrador using single barbless hooks and flies only. We had a blast and can’t wait to go back.
