Ice Walleye, southern Ontario.

Posted on January 29th, 2017

From the reports I have been getting on Quinte ice-walleye, fishing has been somewhat challenging. Mostly smaller fish caught east of Belleville in Big Bay with the occasional trophy fish. Higher number of larger walleye being caught west of Belleville. Ice conditions unpredictable further out. The colder days and nights should seal-up wider pressure cracks and build safer ice.

Always a good bet to start at Big Bay away from narrows where currents do indeed attract walleye, but also make for dangerous ice conditions. Our good friend Richard Somerville has had to pick his weeks and days when heading out but his has been getting a good size-mix of fish jigging and covering vast areas.
