Ice conditions still questionable in southern Ontario.

Posted on January 16th, 2016

Just when we thought winter was here with a week of normal, cold-temperatures the thermometer just rose again to 8.5C with rain in some parts of southern Ontario.

In some areas ice conditions were improving with up to 5-inches of clear, blue ice, but again with the mild temperatures, pressure cracks pushing water onto the ice, many ice areas are again becoming dangerous to access.

Some anglers are fishing smaller reservoirs and quarries and settling for panfish fishing ice that is at least 4-inches thick. Maybe the walleye, trout & whitefish are going to get a break in southern Ontario waters this winter!
