Ice condition update, Kawartha Lakes, ON.

Posted on January 9th, 2016

Ice anglers are anxious to get out and take advantage of safe ice conditions but, with the unseasonably mild temperatures we had going into the New Year, safe ice is taking longer to build.

We are getting reports that some of the Kawartha Lakes have ice from 5-7″ thick in  areas away from any moving water, but with the mild weather forecasted again for the next few days, and possibly rain, most lakes will be unsafe. We can’t stress enough to wait for safe conditions and use extreme caution before venturing out on any ice until we get a few weeks of cold temperatures during the day and at night.
