While we chase migratory brown’s in the Great Lakes tributaries that are running up to eventually spawn, our friend Puneet Saini is catching them in the Greater Himalaya’s in northern India. I have fished there on two differet trips and can confirm that the pristine rivers in the Himachel Pradesh region indeed has amazing brown trout & rainbow trout fishing.
Puneet fishes mostly small Rapala’s to catch his fish and targets deeper pools and runs. The Himalayan streams are cold and they get “blown-out” especially during rainy season and when warm temperatures melt the snow on top of the mountains at 11,000 above sea level.
But when the water is semi-clear, Puneet catches lot’s of nice size resident browns.
