Gulf of Mexico, FL tuna always on the run.

I love fishing in Florida’s Gulf waters with my wife Barbara. You just never know what will be running off-shore. I have had instances where I have has 10-20 Dolphin Fish (Mhai Mahi), holding below my boat for cover where I felt guilty lowering down a bait since they were drifting with us like pets, other times we intercept large Blue Runners, various species of Mackerel and more.

On a recent outing while drifting for King Mackerel a school of tuna came through. These fish spook easy but when you are drifting the open Gulf with live baitfish the readily take the bait and the fight is on. For those of you that have not fought tuna, they may look like footballs, but boy can they fight on light gear.  Hoping to intercept more on our next few outings!
