Gulf of Mexico, FL Snapper fishing.

Posted on December 16th, 2016

When fishing Florida’s Gulf waters we often head out about 10 miles in search of tasty snapper. Since there is a mix of bottom fish that normally hang around reefs, sometimes you have to go through quite a few different species until you catch your target fish.

On a recent trip we targeted eating-size snapper in about 50-60′ water using 4 oz. egg sinkers on a sliding sinker rig. The bait of choice was chunks of squid. Mike Scarlett ended up landing the two nicest Lane Snaper that were in the 2-3 lb. range and ideal for eating.
