Grouper action, Gulf of Mexico, Florida.
Posted on December 9th, 2015Southwest Florida Gulf of Mexico off-shore fishing can produce excellent bottom fish. Many times when we target snapper, porgy, and large grunts for eating we often hook into nice-size Grouper.
These Grouper are no “push-over”. As soon as they take the bait the turn and head towards coral-heads, out-crops and ledges that are on the ocean bottom.
The only way you can stop these fish from cutting your line by going into bottom obstructions is to have your drag set right and horse the fish firmly off the bottom!
