I had the pleasure today to fish with Bill McFarlane who had his first Florida saltwater experience.
We started our day at 7am and headed out about 20 miles into the Gulf to land some Red Grouper. We had action in no-time and Bill landed his first grouper.
Grouper are hard fighting fish and Bill discovered that the bigger they are the harder you have to work to keep them off the bottom once you hook one. Above, you can see Bill working the Rapala RSC Speed Jigging Rod and R-Type heavy action reel on a good size grouper.
Besides landing many grouper Bill also caught one of the biggest of the day which we enjoyed on the grill for dinner. Looking forward to fishing with Bill again tomorrow where we’ll be targeting a variety of Gulf bottom fish.
