As we move into late summer our Lake Ontario waters remain warm on the surface and anglers are continuing to catch a mix of salmon & trout trolling shallow & deep. Captain Aldo Nava, www.niagarafishingadventures.com , continues to do well catching all of the above.
His best results have been hitting the steelhead on flashy Matrixx and Coyote spoons fished anywhere from 40-70′ off downriggers and Dipsey Divers. Looks like some of the biggest steelhead in the high-teens are moving shallower. Even though they are silver, we have a feeling “staging” is on their mind and eventually running up the tributaries this fall.
