Great Lakes, ON Tributary fishing report.
Posted on April 5th, 2010Gabor Horvat reports. I went to Southampton for steelhead fishing. The morning was cold (-3 degrees), but it warmed up very nice. Surprisingly, mid week day, and the river bank was packed with enthusiastic anglers. Everybody wanted to get out and use this beautiful day for fishing.
Well, the catching part was a bit slower than expected. The water condition was very good, a bit stained, moderate flow. I used floater with different lures: artificial worms, row bag, etc…I noticed that the fish were very picky and the bite were very light. If I did not pay attention, the fish was gone.

Even the fluorocarbon leader I used was 4.5 pound test, with very small hook. As the first rain comes, we can expect larger amount of fish in the great lakes tributaries. Can’t wait.
