Good time to target trophy Crappie through the ice!

Posted on March 23rd, 2015

While many ice anglers have packed their gear up for the season, others are taking advantage of trophy panfish action on lakes that continue to have safe ice.

Ed Dolstra send us this image of a couple of the chunky crappie he is consistently catching through the ice. Many of his fish are averaging 12-13″. Those are nice crappie!  This late in the winter, look for them near their spring migration areas; mouth of shallower bays, safe ice areas out from small canals & creeks, and around 6-10′ weedbeds. Good time to use the TriggerX line of panfish grubs!
