Giant Mahseer still being caught in India.

Posted on February 3rd, 2014

Deccan Mahseer almost broke a 36 years old record when he landed a 65 lb. Mahseer fishing the Cauvery River, India. I have fished for Golden Mahseer in northern India and have seen fish in the low 20 lb. ranges landed and it’s hard to imagine hooking a Mahseer of over 50 lb! A lot of information exists about fishing for the Mussullah Mahseer in the Cauvery River. But few anglers know, that a second large Mahseer species lives in this famous river, called a Deccan Mahseer, Black Mhseer, or Tor khudree.
