Southern Ontario anglers that like to catch a variety of fish should be getting ready to target Channel Catfish that will start moving in many of the bays, river and tributaries that go into Lake Ontario & Lake Erie. Here is a tip on using fresh sucker meat for bait that we produced with Ryan Edenborough while doing a TV show on the Grand River. You can view it by clicking on the image below.

One of the most reliable places to catch Channel catfish up to the 20 lb.+ range is the Grand River below the Dunnville, ON dam. You can fish there from a small boat, or fish from shore. FishMasters located just south of the dam sells sucker chunks and has parking and plenty of shoreline to enable angler to fish one of the most productive stretches.
Channel cats are aggressive feeders and they love a chunk of fresh sucker meat.
