Gamakatsu enters fishing knives market.
Posted on December 8th, 2022Gamakatsu, one of the world’s leading hook and terminal tackle brands, has entered the fishing knives market.
The Japanese company has introduced the Everyday Carry (EDC) knives in four different folding models, with the major differences being in size, handle material and blade style.
“It is our first launch in the knives market and we have gone with the best,” said Gamakatsu Sales Manager Ted Thibault, whose team developed the knives.
“The blades are made from durable high-end steel and a frame-lock-style handle with a locking mechanism making it possible to open and close the knife with one hand. They also feature an assisted flipper mechanism to make opening easier.”
The GMKT1 has a 3.25-inch drop-point blade with a plain edge, stonewash finish and black stainless steel handle. The GMKT2 is the most carry-friendly of the series, featuring a 2.75-inch drop-point blade with a two-toned satin finish and a plain edge. The stainless steel handle has a bluewash finish.
The two larger bladed knives have upgraded handles. GMKT3, the largest in the collection, has a 3.625-inch blade that is partially serrated and a stonewash steel handle, while the GMKT4 has a 3.5 inch Santo-style, black oxide blade with a plain edge, and features a black oxide steel handle with a carbon fibre overlay.
