Freshwater Drum recipie.
Posted on June 5th, 2020I know a lot of people are skeptical about eating Freshwater Drum. I must tell you though that if you prepare fresh Drum and follow this simple recipe you will be amazed at how good this fish tastes.
I normally keep smaller Drum under 6 lb. for eating. It’s important that when you fillet a Drum you remove the strip of fat from it’s back. I proceed to cut the “fat-less & boneless” fillets into 1/2 inch wide strips and marinate them in lemon or lime juice for about 10-min. I usually squeeze one lemon or 2-limes. Next, I take out the fish pieces, let them drain and place them on a platter.
Lately I have been trying different fish coating and was impressed by the Club House Fish fry. It is delicious and only costs $2.99 from Amazon.
I use the same size bowl as I do for marinating the Drum and use about 1 cup of coating to coat the strips.
The coated strips are places on a platter and they are ready to deep-fry.
I deep fry the fish pieces at 350F until the outside is golden brown.
I let the fried fish pieces drain and place them on paper towels and they are ready to enjoy!
